PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Rockwell Automation, Englewood, Colorado 2009 - 2015
Project Engineer, 2009 – 2015
Accountable for hardware design, heat and power consumption calculations, power distribution and sizing of power supplies/breakers/wires for control panels, Hardware purchasing, panel checkout including flashing firmware, loading PLC programs and FAT.

• RGV Replacement – Alyeska Pipeline (3/13–5/15) Replacement of obsolete control system with redundant 1756 Control Logix system using the existing enclosure. Created 3D solid model of enclosure and new equipment for customer visualize and procedure of removal and installation. Designed the new RGV control system and included detailed wire/cable routing plans to assure the installation process would be streamlined. Tested each RGV back panel, flashed firmware, set IP addresses to applicable cards, and downloaded program into processors. Set IP addresses, complied program, and downloaded into Panel HMI’s. A total of 12 RGV’s were fabricated, tested, and commissioned on schedule.
• Sour Gas Injection Facility – ConocoPhillips (1/14–8/14) Designed and generated a 3 bay enclosure for a Safety Instrumented System using AADvance redundant hardware and the Balance of Plant using redundant Control Logix and Point IO for field IO. Used only 60% of budgeted man hours, utilized a PLC IO Generator to create IO Schematics from Excel spreadsheet information. Minimized design time creating Panel Layout using Rockwell’s Panel Builder and Parts Book software. Tested pre FAT equipment and participate in the FAT as a Hardware Lead Engineer.
• Sogamoso Hydro Electric Dam – Toshiba International Corp (6/11–12/12) Replaced Technical Lead engineer for the completion of 7 turbine control systems consisting of 7 multiple bay control cabinets with redundant 1756 Control Logix process racks, associated IO racks and MCC. Created cable and conduit plans for each unit. Selected and sized the MCC hardware using MCS Star. Procured all hardware needed through IFS and oversaw the panel construction. Tested all 49 control cabinets for Pre-FAT and oversaw FAT of each turbine control system.
• H.P. Wells Hydro Electric Dam – Toshiba International Corp (12/09–5/10) Refurbishment of original 1970’s Turbine mechanical components using Autodesk Inventor as a solid modeling tool to create hundreds of 3D solid models and associated 3D assemblies of original turbine parts then modify these 3D solid models and assemblies. Submitted detailed drawings to facilitate machine shop modifications and creation of replacement parts.

Hinz Automation, Highlands Ranch, Colorado 2001 - 2009
System Designer, 2001 - 2009
Execution and creation of complete design drawing packages utilizing AutoCAD Electrical to streamline processes personally developed while at Hinz. Responsibilities also included HMI/SCADA screen development.

• Pinedale Station SCADA upgrade – Questar Gas Management (8/08-01/09) Station wide HMI upgrade from iFIX 3.0 to 4.1 and additions of a turbine compressor, pig receiver, Vapor recovery unit, pumps, and MOV’s. This entailed developing new process screens, faceplate, permissive, inhibit, ESD, and shutdown screens to reflect plant upgrades. As well as the in-office FAT, on-site Loop testing, shutdown, and startup of the station.
• Piceance Development Project - Washington Group ExxonMobil (03/08 – 07/08)
This project consisted of designing multiple area PCS and ESD Cabinets providing Panel Layouts, Power Distribution, I/O schematics and Network diagrams. Using AutoCAD Electrical as a template system and starting the design based on the most complicated cabinet the process of refining and creating the remaining cabinets was streamlined. Using Excel spreadsheets as a depository of information for each cabinet, templates were used as place holders than duplicated and updated through an export and import of attributes using this master spreadsheet. This process was used for 15 cabinets consisting of approximately 500 drawings issued for construction 5 weeks ahead of sc...
