EDUCATION

- PhD, Chemical Engineering, University of Florida, 2001
- MS, Biomedical Engineering, University of Florida, 2000
- BS, Chemical Engineering, University of Minnesota (Minneapolis), 1996

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

- R&D Manager, Carestream Health, Oakdale, MN, 2013 - present

Manage a team of chemists, engineers, and technicians in the development and production of silver nanowires for transparent conductive films. Oversee R&D activities to enable technical capabilities consistent with an aggressive product roadmap. Support research and product coating operations with a pilot scale synthesis lab. Transfer technology to the production facility.

- Sr. Quantitative Analyst, Hubbard Decision Research, Glen Ellyn, IL, 2013

Worked closely with clients to develop sophisticated economic models that inform high value business decisions. Implemented Monte Carlo simulations to determine critical variables and make sound predictions regarding the financial impact of specific decisions. Provided training, analysis, and support through every phase of the process in order to remove uncertainty and provide unbiased assessments.

- Assistant Professor, Iowa State University, Ames, IA, 2006 – 2012

Research in the area of bionanotechnology including nanoparticle synthesis, purification, bioconjugation chemistry, cellular uptake, and imaging studies. Expertise in fluorescence microscopy, quantum dot fluorophores, cellular imaging, optical spectroscopy, fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), structural biology, peptide/protein chemistry, and force measurements. Taught courses in chemical engineering including mass and energy balances, numerical methods, biomedical engineering, and colloidal chemistry.

- National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow, Naval Research Laboratory, Washington DC, 2002 – 2006

Performed seminal research in the area of quantum dot nanocrystals and their application to biomedical sciences with Hedi Mattoussi in the Optical Sciences Division. Published numerous manuscripts in this area, several with well over 500 citations.

- Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, 2001 – 2002
